It’s a miracle that little painted shards of glass can come together to create such beauty!!  The intriguing lure of Stained Glass has inspired artisans from around the world to try their hand at shuffling colors and shuffling shards of glass to create something lovely to gaze upon.  Today we are introducing the newest Amazing Paper Grace collection called Stained Glass Floral Bouquet, created for Spellbinders.

Dies for my creations today were supplied by Amazing Paper Grace.

Stained Glass Floral Bouquet Inspiration

Becca says that the inspiration for the collection came from her love of stained glass and never being able to muster the time to do it with real glass.  Who says you can’t have your cake and eat it too?  Now it’s easy to create with paper!  It’s amazing how you can give the same outline to a hand full of different artists and each will come up with a totally different look.

Stained Glass Floral Bouquet Collection

The Stained Glass Floral Bouquet Collection is made up of 7 different die sets.  They are sized for layering and include small designs all the way up to A7 designs with different frames that can make both A2 and A7 designs.  The collection boasts shadow dies for each set so that whenever you don’t want a multicolor design, you can layer your "die-cut leading" onto one color.  The hallmark of the collection is a sweet stained glass flower and shadow in almost every set.  That gives you a background die and a central motif for each set.

Attention "technique junkies" this collection is sweetly serenading you to try your favorite technique with the leading and the shards.

 Here are ours:

  1. Fill each opening with a different color paper and add Glossy Accents.
  2. Ink on a hombre background before resetting your shards.
  3. Add a smidge of color in each opening with a Copic Marker.
  4. Use a different color leading – white, black, gold, silver.
  5. Build up tall leading with 4 layers and adhesive in between each.

My Projects for Today

I made two Art Nouveau inspired cards and used metallic paste to enchance die cut frames – the die set is Deco Bloom.

Designer tip: I used black cardstock and metallic pastes by Pentart, applied with a soft brush – these really go together and give a wow! effect.

This month’s Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month is an elegant tall card with a diamond motif as a focal point.  It’s a new shape to the line-up and today I’m introducing the Amazing Paper Grace Die of the Month for February 2021, Bella Diamante.

Becca Feeken of Amazing Paper Grace sent me these stunning dies to create with.

Becca says a book cover with four elegant corners inspired her, she thought it was a dreamy and dramatic way to showcase a frame.  Bella Diamante is a 5 x 7 card front, with several element layers and rims to use as inlays.  These multiple rims and elements will allow for both A2 and A7 cards.  Elegance reigns supreme with the ability to create shaped cards,  framed cards, or simply embellish with class.

There are 7 dies included in the Bella Diamante

My Project Today using Bella Diamante

With this Die Of The Month I created a scrapbooking layout featuring my dog’s favorite toy, that he got for Christmas. I used paper die cuts in colors matching my background papers and cut them into smaller pieces to use them as embellishments.

My second project is a super fast card. I used the biggest die to cut out the card base, which is so easy and looks fabulous, then embellished it with one ornate cut out and 3 flowers. Thanks to patterned papers I didn’t have to put much on it and it literally took me 10 minutes to create it. I love this dies set!

What’s a Cardlet, pray tell?  A Cardlet is a small motif, complete with background, sentiment and character that combine to make small card or layers onto a larger card.  We’re delighted to introduce you to the Sweet Cardlets Collection.

Becca Feeken sent over these lovely dies and watercolors for me to try.

Sweet Cardlets show up in a Glimmer format with a matching die.   They are metal plates that are used in the Spellbinders Glimmer Hot Foil System to transfer foil to paper through a combination of heat and pressure.  The Glimmer machine base is rolled through your die cut machine to deliver that pressure.  As long as you have a machine that can accommodate thick dies – like steel rule dies, you’re all set. A word to the wise, it is very addicting.

The Inspiration behind Sweet Cardlets

We gotta fess up here.  There’s no such word as cardlets, yep, Becca straight up made it up.  You have to agree though, it sounds really cute, right?  Well that was the inspiration behind sweet cardlets.  As you can imagine it has something to do with cards and moreover, little cards.

Always mindful of the budget, Becca wanted to create a collection where each set is all you need to make a little card.  Sweet Cardlets are small motifs with a 3" x 3" footprint.  Each has a background, a main character and several sentiments.

We found it the right size to fit on an A2 card and even to layer onto an A7 card.  In fact, the 3" background can be repeated for a long background or a larger background.  Dies cut out each main character and three sentiments with each set give you lots of options.

Each of our Creative Team members will show you their take on cards made with the Sweet Cardlets Collection.  Today we’re all using Jane Davenport Watercolors in some technique to show off Sweet Cardlets.

Heart Felt Sentiments Glimmer Hot Foil Plate & Die Set Sweet Cardlets by Becca Feeken GLP-219

GLP-219-Sweet-Cardlets-Becca-Feeken-Heart-Felt-SentimentsSo I made a cardlet <3 I used the background plate to foil these lovely hexagons on cardstock (with opal, clear foil) and then painted them with watercolors. Oh, it was fun! I really like the cheerful outcome. The bee and the sentence were foiled with rosy-gold foil, to make them pop off the background. This is the essence of “sweet cardlet” for me – small, easy to make and cute.

My second project is a small tag, with a background made the same way, as on my cardlet, I just used other combination of colors. I love the artsy look of watercolors in this project!

Designer Tip:  Try to use different foil colors in one project – it adds a lot of an interest to it.
